Happy New Year! The decorations are down and put away and we’re looking forward to a great New Year. We want to thank all our new and repeat guests for staying with us this past year. We love having you and hope you can make time for a getaway again this year in Eureka Springs with us. We appreciate all the kind words and prayers for Donna and hope she will be feeling better soon.

January is one of the slower months of the year but there are still things to do around town. I’ve always thought of Eureka Springs a place to relax and unwind and the slower pace really is good for me once in a while. It’s a great time for discovering all the hidden features of Eureka Springs normally hidden by foliage. I’ve noticed lots of structures built on hillsides and off the beaten path that I didn’t know were there. It’s a great time to walk this stair-step town and admire the unique and interesting architecture that has been carefully preserved. Eureka Springs has one of the largest districts on the historic register in the nation. There’s plenty of Art Galleries and specialty shops open year around.

It’s not too early to start planning a Valentine’s Getaway. I can’t think of a more Romantic and Charming place to share with the one you love than Eureka Springs.

4-6 apples or pears, sliced
1/3 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 c. rolled oats
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon

Place fruit in buttered shallow baking dish. In small bowl, mix until crumbly all remaining ingredients. Spread over fruit. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until fruit is tender.
