Art, music and cars are all reasons to visit Eureka Springs. The Second Saturday Gallery Stroll will showcase local and one-of-a-kind pieces available no where else. The Annual Bluegrass Weekend will feature wonderful talent and a Watermelon Social. The Banjo Rally is also held the last weekend of August. It’s just too good to miss.

Locals and visitors alike look forward to the Annual VW weekend. Nearly everyone has a connection to a VW sometime in the past. Come admire the restoration and preservation of a cultural icon of the 60’s and 70’s.

14 oz. bag of caramels, unwrapped
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
1 stick of butter, melted
1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. dark chocolate chips
1/2 c. milk chocolate chips
1 c. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Place the caramels and 1/3 c. of evaporated milk in a bowl in the microwave, stirring occasionally until melted.
Grease and flour a 9×13 pan.
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, butter, 1/3 c. evaporated milk and nuts.
Stir until the mixture holds together.
Press half of the mixture in the pan and bake for 7-8 min.
Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips into the pan.
Drizzle the melted caramel over the chips and crumble the remaining cake mix mixture over it.
Bake 15-20 minutes. Don’t overbake.
Remove and cool or refrigerate to set the caramel before cutting.

The Eurekan Multi-Sport Event. 3rd year of this very popular swimming-biking-foot racing event. A three-day multi-sport festival consists of a sprint-distance triathlon on Friday afternoon, road bike tour rides and racing on Saturday morning and running races on Sunday. Participants can enter individual events or take “The Eurekan” challenge.

August 10
2nd Saturday Gallery Stroll. The City’s art galleries are joining forces to stage a monthly “Celebration of the Art of Eureka” 6pm to 8pm.

August 15
Poetluck is a potluck dinner and literary salon held the third Thursday of every month, March-October at The Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow in Eureka Springs.

August 15-17
Annual Eureka Springs Family Bluegrass Weekend. Join us for our Annual Bluegrass Celebration! Thursday night Watermelon Social, free music in Basin Spring Park (weather permitting) and performances in the Auditorium.
