Summer is really here, but at least the weather has been cooler the last few days, making outdoor activities more enjoyable. Some things going on in July are the Second Saturday Gallery Stroll, Fat Tire Festival and Opera in the Ozarks will be playing until July 17th, so don’t miss your chance to catch a fantastic performance this year. There will also be an art display at the AUD for the final performance.
We’ve added a few new summer dessert recipes to make your stay with us even better. A light, cool dessert is so refreshing after a day out shopping or sightseeing. The Oreo Cookie Dessert is so good – you have to try it!

Opera In The Ozarks ?? I know what you are thinking – you must be kidding, right? Well, no actually. Although the Ozarks are most famous for bluegrass and country music and musicians, there is a music academy here in Eureka Springs that has been in existence since 1950 that is dedicated to the Fine Arts, concentrating on vocal and instrumental music and dramatic art. The name of the academy is Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony.

Whew! May is over and summer is here. Everything is so green and lush right now because of all the spring rain. Donna and I have found a little time to get out enjoy the scenery lately on the bike. The riding here is fantastic. June looks to be a busy month in Eureka Springs with lots of things to do. Here’s just some of the things going on in June – a art gallery stroll, a car show, Opera in the Ozarks, the Xterra Outdoor Triathlon, Carnegie Library 100th Celebration and much more. And don’t forget,Blues Weekend is this coming weekend and there will be lots of music all over town to enjoy.

Eureka Springs Arkansas will host it’s first annual Eureka Springs Grand Illumination starting May 13th. The event decorates the Victorian village with thousands of oriental paper lanterns. Imagine viewing the ornate architecture of Eureka Springs by night with the glow of paper lanterns adorning the facades of historic downtown buildings and the porches of many of the Victorian homes throughout the village. 

Contests include ‘Best Decorate House’, ‘Best Decorated Business’ and a Photography competition with over a thousand dollars in cash and many other great prizes up for grabs.
The Eureka Springs Grand Illumination lasts through May 16th, and is only one of the events that are part of the May Festival of Art in Eureka Springs. Come visit us at our Eureka Springs Bed and Breakfast and enjoy all our extraordinary escape has to offer.
The Great Passion Play will reopen for its 42nd annual season May 7th. Come see hundreds of cast performers re-enact the last days of Jesus Christ, his death and ressurection on a hillside outdoor theatre.
An unforgettable and inspiring performance enjoyed by more than seven million people from all over the world for over 40 years.
Performed using live animals, historically accurate sets and costumes, and features state-of-the art sound and lighting effects and original music in a dramatic two-hour presentation of the last week in the incarnation of Jesus of Nazareth.
There’s much more to do at the Great Passion Play. Visit the Bible Museum, the Tabernacle, the Christ of the Ozarks Statue, The Living Bible Tour, Sacred Arts Exhibit, the Berlin Wall and the Little Church in the Grove. Enjoy the Texans performance at the “Top of the Mountain” Dinner Theatre starting at 5:00 pm for a hearty sit-down meal and gospel entertainment prior to the Play.
