Our Fall Colors were late this year, as expected. We had our first frost
last night but there are many warm days ahead. Our Christmas Lights
will be going up tomorrow (can you believe it?) and there's a city-wide
decorating contest on the weekend of November 17th. Eureka Springs is
also on the Arkansas Trail of Lights for Christmas and Basin Park will
be the show piece for downtown. The Christmas Parade will be November
30th- make your reservations now!

RECIPE
Baked apple and pear compote
Yield: 6 Servings
4 Tart apples; peeled, cored and cut into quarters or sixths
A handful of raisins
3 Ripe but firm pears; peeled, cored and cut into quarters or sixths
2 tb Mild-flavored honey
¾ ts Ground cinnamon
½ ts Ground nutmeg
1 Lemon ; juice of
¾ Apple juice
1 tb Whiskey
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Butter a baking
dish large enough to hold all of the fruit. Place the fruit in the baking
dish along with the raisins. Drizzle on the honey. Sprinkle on the spices.
Mix together the lemon juice, apple juice and whiskey. Toss with the
fruit. Place in the oven and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the
fruit is very soft. Stir every 10 to 15 minutes. Serve either hot or
at room temperature.

Ozarks Adventure in Watercolor

Well-known watercolor artist Sheila Parsons will instruct a 5 1/2 day
workshop in the convention center at Best Western Inn of the Ozarks.
The class will begin on Sunday the 4th at 6PM and will end after breakfast
the following Saturday, November 10th. For more information , please

More Food and Wine Weekend Events
Wednesday, November 7th, 2007 - Sunday, November 11st, 2007
The second weekend of November is traditionally when restaurants, bars,
shops, and chefs invite visitors into their lives to treat their palates
to a delightful tour-de-force of food and wine. This year is no exception
in Eureka Springs. This picturesque Ozarks community will transform
itself into a retreat of Wine Seminars, Five Course Dinners, Castle
Tours, Cooking Classes, and Wine Premiers. No less than 30 events at
15 venues are planned as part of this elaborate and festive weekend.

The tradition continues in Eureka Springs! The City's art galleries
are joining forces to stage a monthly "Celebration of the Art of
Eureka." >From April to December, on the second Saturday of
each month, galleries on Spring Street and all around the town will
open their doors from 6-9:00 pm. A colorful banner hanging outside each
one will identify galleries participating in this fabulous fun event.
Fall Antique Show & Sale
Friday, November 16th, 2007 - Sunday, November 18th, 2007
55 antique dealers from 14 different states bring their wares November
17 and 18 for the 19th Annual Eureka Springs Fall Antique Show and Sale.
A special Wine & Cheese Preview will be held on Friday, November
16, 5:30-7 p.m. The popular yearly event will be held at the Inn of
the Ozarks Convention Center.

Trail of Lights
Both Eureka Springs and Berryville will be participating in the Arkansas
Dept. of Parks and Tourism's 2007 "Trail of Lights." Come
experience the festive decorations of our lovely Victorian town.

The 25th Annual Tour of Homes will take place Saturday, December 1 from
2-7. There are over 14 locations participating in this year’s
Holiday Tour of Homes and special attention to decorating for the holidays
is happening within them. Several of the locations have been completely
renovated just in time to participate in the tour this year.
